Why The Rhino?
This blog explains why Worn Wild chose the rhino as part of its logo — a powerful symbol of strength, vulnerability & environmental urgency. It shares a personal story of witnessing a rhino and calf in the wild, contrasts it with the brutal reality of poaching, and connects the rhino’s plight to the brand’s mission of eco-friendly clothing and protecting the planet.

Why the Rhino?

At Worn Wild, every element of our brand has meaning, none more so than the rhino in our logo.

A Symbol of Strength and Vulnerability

Rhinos are ancient, majestic creatures. They’ve roamed this earth for millions of years surviving drastic environmental changes and evolving into one of nature’s most iconic animals. Despite their immense strength, they now teeter on the edge of extinction, a paradox that moved us deeply.

The moment that solidified our choice came during a life-changing trip: while backpacking across southern Africa, we were fortunate enough to witness a mother rhino and her calf, just 20 metres away peacefully grazing in the morning light. It was an unforgettable moment, a reminder of nature’s quiet strength and the irreplaceable bond between wild creatures and their environment.

But not all rhino stories end with serenity.

The Image We Can’t Unsee

We once saw an image (horrifying yet essential) of a rhino left to die, its horn hacked off by poachers, its body discarded, with its calf abandoned and traumatised nearby. That image still haunts us and it’s one we believe the world should not ignore. (

Note: You can view similar documented images and read more via organisations like Save the Rhino.

That heartbreak became a call to action.

Why It Matters to Us

The rhino in our logo represents more than just an animal - it symbolises the delicate balance between power and preservation. It is a reminder that strength must be protected not exploited. We chose it to honour these animals, to highlight the growing environmental threats they face and to connect that to the clothing choices we make.

Every item in our eco-friendly clothing line is designed with purpose: to reduce harm, raise awareness, and offer an alternative to fast fashion. By choosing sustainable fabrics and low-impact production we aim to tread gently, like the rhinoand protect what’s left of our wild planet.

Planet in the Balance

Next to the rhino in our logo is a swirling green and blue sphere symbolising Earth. The pairing isn’t random - it’s intentional. Our planet, just like the rhino is beautiful, powerful and in urgent need of protection. One represents nature’s living creatures, the other our shared home.

Together, they form the core of our identity: wild, worn with pride and committed to a better future.

Thank you for supporting Worn Wild.

Together, we can walk softer on the planet — and fight for those who can’t speak for themselves.

E&J

https://images.podos.io/tylqsqstg3jcbn1vpsibgco2kl2otg8z394uirzw1j0rgujj.jpeg?z=2.448540595454&fx=0.51923716560248&fy=0.50767351362126
https://images.podos.io/tylqsqstg3jcbn1vpsibgco2kl2otg8z394uirzw1j0rgujj.jpeg.jpg?w=1140&h=855&z=2.448540595454&fx=0.51923716560248&fy=0.50767351362126
https://images.podos.io/tylqsqstg3jcbn1vpsibgco2kl2otg8z394uirzw1j0rgujj.jpeg.jpg?w=1920&h=1440&z=2.448540595454&fx=0.51923716560248&fy=0.50767351362126
The Problem with Cotton WasteCotton has been the backbone of clothing for centuries.
